how did you get on with your local club? It is very frustrating but there is still little buy in from the top levels at sports clubs. Most will be 50+ years old and not see social media for what it can offer. Does the phrase 'this is the way we've always done it' strike a chord?!

It is going to be a slow turnaround but as more savvy people move up the ladder and bring them new ideas we will see movement. It may be months or years but we will get there and social media will become a norm for teams to be involved with.

[...] What’s stopping sports teams from embracing social media? [...]

Great article and one very in tune with what I deal with a LOT of the time here at RuckinRugby.com - I have a good handful of clubs in the mIddle East an dbeyond and the enthusiasm for social media is already there. here in UK I am up against the old-boy networks who are suffocating clubs into extinction - worried that 'others' may actually have the confidence to speak out over social media whereas they know their place in the bar, and know it's not their place to speak. Very frustrating, very damaging. I am aware that people do not like change but when it starts effecting others you have to step in and present the argument. I am meeting my own club this afternoon - Devon's oldest Rugby Club - and I hope to blog my progress as we explode in to the 21st century next season!! Watch this space.
